I like that you didn't overcomplicate four direction Robotron. Love the idea of a series of small games like this. Good luck!

Tasty spam.

Down as middle is a fun mind f**k. Very enjoyable endless game. Love the way the music never stops, only fades off.

I really like this active twist on the traditional sliding tile puzzle. I also very much like the sense of relaxation that comes from new pieces only being introduced as a result of making a move. Still that's probably my only idea for improvement: the "cost" of a move (in terms of new pieces) seems to remain the same throughout the game (that might be incorrect, but that's the way it feels). I think if it started lower and ramped up it might both help new players and add a sense of progression and--eventually--of frenzy.

Totally unironically, I love the lack of presentation and what aesthetic there is I dig. Tight get in and play.

I've been wanting to play one of these but have literally been waiting for a NG clone. Thanks for doing this! I love the lack of barriers. Very addictive!

This was an awesome way to ring in the new year! I loved this demo start to finish. Light and easy to get into with just enough depth. Good luck with adding more!

Glad you enjoyed it!

Congrats on being P-bot listed. I can't believe this isn't ranked higher. Really good jam game twist on Puzzle Bobble.

Couple of performance issues (and I could only get it running in Firefox) but it was an enjoyable hour (I "enjoyed the scenery") of Mario remix. Amazing music as always.

Edit: I definitely enjoyed it! It was a really cool way to experience SMB1 again, the infinite spawning and the way things were strung together made everything feel fresh again. This being (I assume?) a custom engine is even more impressive. What base tech? You should write something up. :)

WaterSilverC responds:

Yeah, preformance issues are my fault. In essence I had forgotten how big smb1 actually is and just loaded everything in memory. I was skipping too much as a kid I guess and remembered it shorter.

Interesting that it works well for firefox for you. I developed the engine in firefox but it started stuttering a bit but when I use chrome it's totally smooth. I guess it depends on the machine.

Anyway glad you liked it!

A pretty strong contained experience.

The scale switching conveys a nice sense of weight, power, and--well--scale. The slow nature of play fits with the theme, though I'm undecided about the (perhaps intentionally) awkward controls. On the one hand, since the monster can literally float in place and move backward, allowing the arrow keys to "flip" the player would make the controls much more intuitive. On the other hand, the current scheme does evoke arcade "Defender".

It has a good "Pac Man"-esque grind and chase game loop and doesn't overstay its welcome.

Great contribution guys and congratulations on the P-bot!

Super cool presentation.
